Michael Hathaway
eLearning Content Manager
Michael Hathaway is eLearning Content Manager at MoreSteam, where he leads the development and refinement of instructional content for the company's Lean Six Sigma, continuous improvement, and problem-solving curriculum. His work focuses on helping learners build practical skills through engaging learning experiences that are clear, memorable, relevant, and rich with high-impact practice. He is particularly interested in how instructional design, feedback, and real-world application can accelerate learning and help organizations develop stronger problem-solving capability.
Before joining MoreSteam, Michael spent seven years as a classroom educator, teaching middle school students at YES Prep Northside in Houston, Texas, and KIPP Columbus Middle in Columbus, Ohio. He taught a wide range of subjects including reading, social studies, and science. Both school systems were founded on data-driven process improvement principles, giving Michael early exposure to the power of structured problem solving, measurement, and continuous improvement in organizational settings.
During his tenure at MoreSteam, Michael has played a key role in the development and evolution of the company's training programs. As a trained Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, he brings both instructional design expertise and practical continuous improvement knowledge to his work. He authored MoreSteam's A3 Problem Solving and Hoshin Kanri courses and has contributed extensively to curriculum development across Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt, Lean, and advanced continuous improvement training. His approach combines principles of adult learning, storytelling, deliberate practice, and experiential education to help learners move beyond tool knowledge and develop sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
In addition to course development, Michael leads facilitator preparation for MoreSteam's Lean and DMAIC simulations, helping instructors create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that mirror real-world improvement work. He has also led workshops and webinars on blended learning, adult education, A3 thinking, and continuous improvement training methods.
Michael has presented at industry events including the ASQ World Conference on Quality and Improvement and the ASQ Lean and Six Sigma Conference. Through his work developing curriculum, training facilitators, and supporting learners around the world, he continues to focus on helping people build the confidence and capability to solve meaningful problems.
Michael received a B.A. from the University of Notre Dame through the University's Program of Liberal Studies.
