When can I begin Master Black Belt Certification and how long does it take?

We accept applications for the Master Black Belt Certification program on a rolling basis. Please contact us for detailed instructions on completing the short application form. As part of the requirements, we also need documentation of your Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Upon acceptance into the program, you can begin the eLearning portion of the Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt training at any time. Each advanced classroom training session is offered twice a year (in the spring and fall), allowing students to attend in the order that best suits their schedule. Previous candidates have completed the Master Black Belt Certification in as little as 6 months. However, it is more typical to take 12–18 months to fulfill all the Lean Six Sigma certification requirements.

What qualifications are needed for the Master Black Belt Certification program?

To qualify to enter the Master Black Belt certification program, you must meet the following criteria: Certification as a Black Belt from a reputable source Five years of process improvement experience, including three years as a Black Belt. This rigorous program assumes a mastery of the full Lean Six Sigma Black Belt body of knowledge as a foundation. Please review the full list of topics in the Black Belt Body of Knowledge to identify and resolve any gaps prior to starting the program. Our experience has shown that there is significant variability in training curriculums and certification requirements between training providers. To help you prepare, we provide our 140-hour Lean Six Sigma Black Belt course so you can reinforce your foundational knowledge before you attend class.

Do I need a portfolio to become a certified Master Black Belt?

Yes. As a real-world credential, the Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification requires a portfolio demonstrating your strategic and value-added accomplishments. This includes showcasing your ability to implement thought leadership in the design and execution of continuous improvement initiatives within your organization. Your portfolio should reflect the complexity of real-world challenges and provide a clear representation of how you have applied systematic problem-solving and process thinking to deliver measurable results. Program leaders are particularly interested in evidence of your leadership and the impact you’ve made on your organization's processes.

What is included in the Master Black Belt Certification enrollment fee?

The program fee of $14,250 covers all costs for online courses, classes, workbooks, exams, and project portfolio review. Participants must have access to a laptop loaded with the latest version of Minitab. You can begin your enrollment by contacting MoreSteam. Rescheduling Fee: A rescheduling fee of $500 will apply for changes made within four weeks of the scheduled classroom training. Refunds: No refunds will be granted within 90 days of your first scheduled classroom session.

What is required of me to complete Master Black Belt Certification training?

We will award certification upon satisfactory review of the following: Passing score on the Master Black Belt exams (80%) Presentation or publication in an external venue, either in person (such as a conference presentation) or in a written work Your portfolio of project work, which must include at least five projects Evidence of coaching/mentoring experience on ten projects An oral interview
