The Evolution of Operational Excellence at USPS

Introducing Lean management strategies to any organization is challenging in its own right. Make that an organization with over 630,000 employees and a history spanning over 250 years, and the challenge seems nearly impossible.

When a change in leadership provoked a new emphasis on integrating process improvement and operational excellence initiatives, Jewelyn Harrington, the Senior Director of Operational Excellence, and her team were suddenly faced with the challenge of implementing and managing continuous improvement efforts for one of the largest institutions in America.

Jewelyn Harrington has spent the last 15 years working as a Senior Leader for USPS. In this webinar, Harrington will walk us through the United States Postal Service’s three-phase journey toward Lean management. This includes how Harrington and her team implemented Lean Six Sigma, the struggles they faced introducing it into the organization, and lessons they learned on their path to building an organization of problem-solvers. Join us for a free webinar that explores the various levels of maturity an organization experiences on their journey to excellence.

In this session, we will:

  • Reflect on lessons learned in introducing Lean Six Sigma to an organization for the first time
  • Provide strategies for building problem-solving capability in a large organization
  • Discuss an Operational Excellence management model and the leadership behaviors that drive its success
