Assembly Line Balancing
Assembly Line Balancing. Getting the optimal flow from your process.
1. Set the pace. There's a steady takt time of 60 seconds of work coming in.
2. Create your line. Model the steps in the process and how long they take. In this case, the times for the model are shown above.
3. Model Backups with Queues and Core Pull. Queue blocks (3a) help capture stats for when the process is backed up. Queues are added after steps 1 though 3 to record time when the step is blocked by the downstream step being busy. Core Pull blocks (3b) ensure that only 1 item exists in the step activity or block queue.
