Introduction to Tool Types

EngineRoom is the full suite of tools you need for a Process Improvement project or effort. There are four types of tools in EngineRoom.

Documentation Templates

Our template tools include:

These documentation tools are text and dropdown based tools that enable you to prioritize and understand your project plan, the Voice of the Customer, and your features.

Diagramming Tools

Our diagramming tools include:

• Affinity Diagrams
• CTQC Diagram
• Process Flow Chart
• Root Cause Tree
• SIPOC
• Value Stream Map

These diagramming tools are drag-and-drop image and text based tools that enable you to visualize your process, understand where to collect data, document process information, and communicate to the wider organization.

Note: The Fishbone Diagram is also a diagram but does not match the other tools. The Fishbone Diagram allows you to put in information and then create the Fishbone automatically via the Fishify button.

Statistical Analysis Tools

Our stats tools consist of:

• Basic Graphs, such as Histogram and Box Plots
• Control Charts, such as XmR and X bar R/S
• Hypothesis Testing
• Design of Experiment Wizard and Analysis
• Data Transformation and Anderson Darling

These tools enable you to visualize, identify, and calculate based on data you provide. Upload your data and drag and drop the relevant variables onto the dropzones in order to select your data. Then follow the steps to produce graphical outputs and charts that help you make decisions.

Modeling Tools

• Process Playground - discrete event simulation
• Monte Carlo Simulation

These process modeling tools enable you to predict and test the outcomes of various decisions. Process Playground enables you to visualize your current state, observe the bottlenecks in the process, prototype changes, and observe the outcomes that you might expect from those changes.
